How do you feel about your ability to follow through on what you love?
I am in awe of all that I did in the past few months.
But the particular thing that I’m the most proud of is that I learned the creative process. I studied computer science and UX design awhile ago, and while I learned specifics I don’t think either of those studies focused so much on process and details the way this studio class did. Explore ideas, pick an idea, iterate through all of the different possibilities and work day by day—sometimes alone, sometimes with a team—to reach the goal.

The original idea was very simple:
I was happy that I was able to convince the team to texturize the “bands” on the model, contributing to a different way of experiencing sunlight and softening the metal poles and view to the sky to ground and pull the experience to the earth.
I heard so many people say something along the lines of “architecture students don’t sleep”.
So What’s Next?
Well, I loved this original prototype so much that when I was asked if I wanted to keep it, I said “YES”. I am going to buy some seeds that twine around, probably some kind of sweet peas, and grow them in my sunny front window in this model.
But even bigger picture, I’m going to follow through more on the projects I’ve had on the back burner for years. I’m going to listen to my friend Krista’s podcast named Yellow-Eyed Cats and remember that “Reasons are Bullshit”. I’m going to stop wondering-what-will-happen-if and just dive in.
